Medication

In the interests of all children, it is a requirement that all medications brought to school be handed in at the school office where staff will oversee distribution and dosage. Children who have short term medication and require a dose to be administered at school must bring the medication and an explanatory note to the Office.  It is an advantage in such cases if the amount of medicine required for school doses is decanted and kept at school. This prevents the medicine being accidentally left at school and the child missing the night time dose. Clear labelling is essential.

Long term medication (e.g. Ritalin, dexamphetamine) must be brought to the school by a parent. No students are permitted to carry or self administer these medications at school. Prescribed medications must be sent in its original container with a note stating name of child, the dosage and time it is to be administered. Asthma puffers may be kept with the child or by their class teacher. Any child on long term medication must present a form that has been completed by their doctor. These forms are available from the office and should be returned as soon as possible.
