Friends of the School

This page acknowledges people who have served our school with distinction and have been nominated by the principal and seconded by the Staff and P&C as being worthy of long lasting recognition. This initiative was conceived in 2012 and put into action in 2014.

Friends of our School are volunteers who have made an outstanding and long lasting contribution to the success of our school

"Friends of the School" are not the 'dearly departed' and any plaques seen in gardens and elsewhere around the school may apply to "Friends of our School", who are living or who may have passed away!

In 2014 the first two "Friends of our School" were nominated and accepted.

Recipients in chronological order:

Mr Reg WATTS named Friend of our School in 2012.

Citation: Reg was a long term volunteer in our gardens working behind the scenes during his eighties and into his nineties. They don't make 'em like Reg any more! Reg passed away in 2012 but he is remembered as a humble worker and a true "Friend of our School".

Mrs Patti SLATER named Friend of our School in 2014.

Citation: Patti worked at our school as a devoted school cleaner for many years. During those years Patti spent endless hours of her own time on weekends and in school holidays to maintain and build up the quality and quantity of our school gardens and transformed them with her care and her donations of plants. Patti quietly retired from her cleaning job in 2014 but her contribution to our school is inspirational and long lasting. That's why she is known as a "Friend of our School".

Mrs Diane DELLA named Friend of our School in 2015.

Citation: Diane was a parent of three boys who went to our school. When her first boy started, Diane began her involvement with the Parents & Citizens Association. Over the years her influence grew and eventually she became President of the P&C, a position she held for 7 consecutive years. Diane led the P&C without fear or favour during a period in which we added a new library, new permanent classrooms, air-conditioning to every permanent classroom, the shade sail installation in the top quadrangle. She led the P&C in fundraising for these projects and much more. Diane maintained the operation of the P&C run School Canteen and drove its transition to a Healthy Canteen. Diane also assisted as a selection panel member for new teacher positions in our school. Diane represented the P&C association at higher levels. Diane's contribution to the success of our school are profound and will be long lasting. "Our school is a much better place because she was here". Diane Della has set the standard for parent enaggement in our school and so thoroughly deserves recognition as a "Friend of Our School".
